Science/Math Article of the week

Running is an important trait almost all creatures need to survive, whether they are running from a predator or having fun.

But there is one question, can those big, harmless creatures that are long surviving, elephants run? While most believe they cannot run, scientists have came up with a new observation.
It is unbelievable, but these creatures can part run and part walk. They run with their front legs and walk with their back legs.
The way elephants move is by converting their potential energy into motion energy.
When elephants lift their foot from the ground, they convert their potential energy, or stored energy into motion energy, and when they put their foot back on the ground the motion energy is converted back into potential energy.
Elephants move like this, back and forth, converting motion energy into potential energy and potential energy into motion energy.

However, while running, the energy cannot be moving back and forth.
It is amazing what creatures do, and how they manipulate their actions to fit their body's ability.
