Arts and crafts activity of the week

Ku-ku leaf card

Interesting name, isn't it? I don't know if you will agree to that, but I am sure everyone will agree to the fact that this card is a perfect card to give out on special occasions, and to nature lovers.

Materials:
  • Long sheet of card stock
  • Lots of sheets of designed origami paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon (Optional)
Procedure:

  1. First take your long sheet of card stock and lay it flat. Divide it into thirds.
  2. Draw a picture of a leaf on your folded into thirds sheet of card stock. Make sure the sides of the leaf is actually the end of the paper.
  3. Cut the leaf, accept on the sides. Once you open the folded paper, there must be a chain of three leaves attached to each other.
  4. Leave the middle leaf alone, and crinkle the right leaf only into two, so that one half of the middle leaf is covered
  5. Do the same to the left leaf. Now the middle must be covered.
  6. Decorate your wonderful leaf card, and write something inside!

Optional (Ribbon)

  1. Open the crinkled part of your leaf. Poke a hole in the back of the crinkle with scissors. Please be careful and do not put your hand in front of the scissors. Use the help of an adult. Put the ribbon through and then tie a knot in the back so the ribbon won't come out.
  2. Do the same to the other side, and then tie a bow on the front. Now, when they untie the bow, the leaf card will beautifully open.
  3. Decorate your leaf card, and write something inside. Place stickers and more!
